A new project must be requested by the project Principal investigator (PI)

If the submission succeeds, a confirmation link will be returned to your email address. When you have confirmed your email address by activating the confirmation link, the request will be processed.

In vitro projects are classified as animal experiments which do not require FOTS applications.
However, an approved local (departmental) application is required for an in vitro project which is not covered by a FOTS application.
An in vitro project cannot use genetically modified animals with harmful or not adequately documented phenotype, and does not allow any procedures or organ harvesting before the animal is dead - defined as cardiac arrest or after cervical dislocation or decapitation.
"Forskriften" referred to below is: Forskrift om bruk av dyr i forsøk (FOR-2015-06-18-761).
Termination must be done using methods allowed according to "Forskriften, vedlegg C".
Maximum project length is 5 years.

Does the project involve genetically modified animals with harmful or not adequately documented phenotype?

PI and animal handling coworkers must be registered in FOTS.
The PI is the project/experiment responsible ("forsøksansvarlig", Forskriften § 28).

All employees/caretakers at the facility will have access to the FOTS application and information on cages/animals.

In addition, researchers may be given access, if requested by the PI.
For a project which has already been registered at the facility, this request is sent by the PI as described in the section Access to existing project on the main info page.

Access may also be requested when registering the project, by specifying user names (logins) in the text box below. Enter user names separated by comma.

1. User names (logins) must already exist in Science Linker. See the section New user on the main info page.
2. User names (logins) must be given using correct letter case (uppercase / lowercase)
For UiO logins: lower case, else: upper case.
Example with 2 UiO user names and 1 non-UiO user name: firstuiousername,seconduiousername,LOCALUSERNAME.
3. If the PI wants access to project data, then the PI's user name must be included.
